Buyer Tips for
The Curriculum Closet Sale
1. Arrive early.
The earlier you arrive, the better the selection will be! Plan plenty of time to find parking and make your way to the sale. For the best selection, consider coming to one of our presales, where for only a $5 fee you get to browse for a full hour before the sale opens to everyone else!
2. Bring something to carry your books.
Plan to bring a wagon, stroller, rolling cart, or even a box for all your new treasures. You’ll want to be able to carry everything around the sale and then home with you!
Note: any closed bags will be subject to inspection at checkout.
3. Make a list of what you need.
Think about what your plans are for the upcoming school year. Are there certain books you need for a class your student will take? Make a list of everything you need so you don’t forget anything important.
4. Be on the lookout for special finds.
Don’t feel limited to just what you have on your list! There will be many items there that you may not have even realized were available. You never know what you might find that perfectly fits your student.
5. Consider your payment method
We will be able to accept cash and major credit cards. Any credit card transaction will incur a $2 processing fee, so bring cash if you’d like to avoid that fee.
6. Check out discount day.
Near the end of the sale, there will be a time when most items are discounted 50%. Be sure to come back to see what great deals you can find on any remaining items!
7. Remember our gleaning hour!
On our final day, there will be an hour where many sellers have chosen to donate any unsold items and you may pick up items for FREE! That’s right, free! We only ask that you only take items you plan to use with your students. These items are not intended for resale.
8. Shop with a friend.
When we have choices to make, it always helps to get feedback from those we trust. This is no different when making choices on homeschool curriculum. Bring a fellow homeschooler along and shop together. If you are new to homeschooling, ask a homeschool mentor to join you the day you attend the sale. Make a day of it: enjoy the sale and downtown Lynchburg. Make this sale with your friend an annual tradition!
